The Reach by Hilton Hotel Renovation | Key West, FL | K2M Design

After a multi-million-dollar renovation, the newest addition to Hilton’s upper upscale Curio Collection, The Reach Key West opened its doors to the public representing the brand’s first property in the lower Keys. Owned by Park Hotels & Resorts, The Reach offers 150 guest rooms located on the only natural sand beach in Key West, all while being only one block away from the world-famous Duval street. K2M Design provided architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural engineering services to support the conversion of the existing facility to a Curio hotel. The work included the renovation of guest rooms and guest baths, the arrival, lobby, stairs to second floor, fitness center, outdoor dining area and bar and restaurant.

Keeping its original name, The Reach (nautical term “reaching” – sailing across the wind), this resort reflects the island’s natural beauty with a design inspired by coastal style. The bright and airy lobby serves as a warm welcome to all guests, letting them know that their island adventure is about to start. An inviting entry patio also provides an area for guests to relax and have a cocktail or plan their adventures. Local artwork, the sculptural netting nodding to local fishermen, “Gypsy Chicken” mural painted by Cuban American muralist “DaveL” and hanging ceramic fish, all make this resort part of the location’s distinctive atmosphere – “Genius Loci”, or “spirit of place”. What makes this resort so unique is the fully transformed oceanfront restaurant Four Marlins, named after a famous photo of Ernest Hemingway on a fishing trip with his family while residing in Key West, adding to the unforgettable experience for visitors.
