The O’Leary Resource Recovery Center | Charlotte, NC | K2M Design

The new O’Leary Resource Recovery Center is Building 1 of a phased master plan. The main structure is a pre-engineered metal building clad in insulated metal panels, with 120’ clear span steel trusses. The two-story front entry and administration area is wrapped in brick veneer with storefront windows and metal awnings.

The 2,000 SF of administration space includes a reception area, employee break room, all necessary support spaces, and management offices on the second level overlooking the processing floor. The Dispatch /Scalemaster office has a visual out onto the truck scale at the front of the building.

This commercial waste recycling and recovery center processes office waste consisting of paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminum. The 35,250 SF processing/production area includes large overhead doors, a ramped loading dock, a tipping floor with an automated sorting machinery, a bailing area and designated stockpile areas.
