Monroe County Emergency Operations Center | Marathon, FL | K2M Design

K2M Design is working with ADG for the design and construction of the Monroe County EOC facility located in Marathon, Florida. The building is being designed with a Safe Room conformant with FEMA standards and specifications. The team is providing architectural and engineering support services for the planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction administration of the new facility. Our team’s primary mission is to guide the county through the design process and deliver a useful, state-of-the-art EOC facility that realizes their vision and meets all project goals.
The Site Design includes site development of ± 3.48 acres and will include the two-story emergency management facility. The facility will house Monroe County Emergency Operations Administration, Fire Administration Department, Incident Command Center, and Sheriff’s Communication Center on the elevated first floor. The lowest floor for the emergency management facility shall provide public and secured entry and will be elevated to provide same flood and storm surge protection. The site as designed has 68 secured staff parking spaces as well as 6 public parking spaces. Secured parking will be enclosed by a perimeter fence and accessed by a security gate with access control.
The design was developed this with the direct input of key staff through a series of meetings, where the team reviewed long-term operational needs, critical systems redundancies, site plan considerations, floor plan layout, overall building design and future growth considerations. This facility will be unique and has been tailored to the operational needs of Monroe County. The final building program includes current and projected future needs.
