Marathon City Hall | Key West, FL | K2M Design

The Marathon City Hall project was initiated in 2013. After an initial design and bidding phase of work, the project was reevaluated in early 2014, resulting in a refined design with bids received under the Design Team’s estimated cost of $4.8 million.
With a reduced budget and scope of work, the Design Team created a 15,000 square foot single story facility to house the City of Marathon administration functions, create a convenient Council Chambers, and complete the site design, linking the Oceanfront Park to US1.
The K2M Team provided services throughout the process and led the cost estimating, specification writing, interior architecture and design, and full engineering of civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical scope of work. In addition, we were the key communicator between the project team and government.
The K2M Team continued to service the City of Marathon though the completion of construction with office and on-site construction administration.
The building was structurally designed for 200 MPH wind loading with an interior “safe zone” that could be used to augment County EOC capabilities. The HVAC system uses full ERV (energy recovery ventilation) for all exhaust and outside air requirements along with performance based outside air make up handled by air containment zone monitoring throughout the building.
