This complete first floor renovation transformed a “typical” office space into a unique workplace with areas reflecting this youthful and growing division of a long-standing environmental resource company. Responding to the most competitive hiring environment in years, the primary goal of the 24,000 square foot renovation was attracting top talent utilizing simple, but effective design solutions that authentically reflect the company’s identity. These goals were accomplished through designing engaging spaces that serve a variety of functions, while ensuring that the entire floor was programmed with flexible and productive space.

Natural tones and bright accent colors create an energetic, yet balanced and warm environment. A cozy lobby invites guests into a rich history of environmental stewardship. Natural wood tones are accented by stone and uplifting environmental hues of green and blue. Unique breakout spaces evoke casual conversation and organized meetings. Each zone within the space features a mix of private and public gathering areas. Technology, which was also a key feature to the space, is incorporated into all spaces for increased flexibility.

The space was designed to accommodate a growing staff. Employee’s individual workstations were designed with functionality in mind combined with modern, clean aesthetics. Each workstation is equipped with a sit-to-stand desk to encourage flexibility and promote wellness. Additionally, the wide desktops provide room for three large monitors, while a variety of personal storage options are incorporated through the use of open cubbies, lockable under-desk storage, and slim wardrobes. Large windows throughout the space flood the office with natural light, giving the entire staff a “window office”.

Nature-inspired materials seamlessly flow through the space including several live edge tables situated in the main work area with comfortable seating surrounding. These spaces are designed to accommodate multiple functions and are strategically located outside of the well-appointed kitchenette. The kitchen was designed to easily host various sized corporate gatherings. An expansive bar top accommodates seating as well as serving-buffet space. Two large stainless-steel refrigerators and upgraded appliances help to make events both easy to host and clean up.

Outside the kitchen is an entertainment focused environment including a high-top live edge table overlooking the pool/ping-pong table. Bringing the work-life balance into the workspace, a fully equipped work out room was added featuring treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and a variety of weight-lifting equipment to further promote team wellness. The area also includes lockers and restrooms.

The training room is well equipped with technology for any meeting type. The large space is bright and inviting while providing the flexibility to easily transform the room to meet the user’s needs. In addition to serving as training space, the room offers an extended gathering space for larger company events.
