K2M Design provided planning, programming and full design services for the construction of the new 300 bed Ashtabula County Jail and Sheriff’s Office. The County is undertaking significant reform to its criminal justice system and realizes the size, scope, design and operations of a new County Jail must support this reform. The County partnered with the K2M team to develop innovative operational designs which will support effective services and programs in the facility while maintaining public safety. The new facility will include the following components at a minimum: Sheriff’s Office – 22,124 SF of Program space to include: Visitation, Sheriff’s Administration, Uniform Division, Detective Division and Staff Support; Detention Center – 88,763 SF of Detention spaces including Administration, Central Control, Intake and Transfer, Medical/Mental Health Housing and Housing Support, Food Service, Laundry and Maintenance/Storage Spaces; Additional Support and Common Areas for Sheriff functions and auxiliary needs.
