Situated in the Twin Aire neighborhood, the Community Justice Campus broke ground in 2018 and was completed in 2022. The campus brings together community partners dedicated to a modern, holistic, data-driven approach to the Indianapolis justice system. The Sheriff’s Office is a three-story building totaling 86,000 square feet that houses the offices and support services of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. The building is scheduled to receive LEED certification.
The modern facility contains numerous departments including Sheriff’s executive office, general administration, FTA/Reserves/K-9, internal affairs, criminal division, digital / tech, road patrol, armory, intake / sallyport, medical, building support, shipping / receiving, maintenance, staff support (locker rooms, dining, kitchen), and training. The training includes briefing, several physical training spaces, fitness, computer lab, training offices, conference / meeting space, and accreditation areas. The large lobby is the main public entry for the entire complex where the security check-in occurs, and visitors can access the courthouse, Sheriff’s Office, or jail.
The new facility is highly flexible in design to adapt to changing law enforcement needs of the Sheriff, County, and State. Open workspaces and department organization allow for greater collaboration amongst personnel mean to improve the workplace culture and integration.
