Ohio Department of Transportation

K2M Design was selected by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to develop the criteria for two new full service maintenance facilities. The 68,000 SF facility at Warrensville Heights and the 56,000 SF facility in Columbiana County. The Full Service Maintenance Facility at Warrensville is masonry construction with a separate building for materials storage. The Maintenance Facility was designed with the following features; Administrative and Office areas, Mechanics Bay, Welding Bay, Wash Bays, Vehicle Storage and Decanting and Dumpster Station. The Columbiana facility is a Pre‐Engineered Metal Building designed to facilitate Administrative areas, Mechanics Bay, Welding Bays, Wash Bays, Vehicle Storage, and Decanting and Dumpster Stations. In addition to the Full Service Maintenance Facility, Salt Storage, Material Storage and Cold Storage were also designed pre‐engineered buildings with cast in place concrete walls with fabric coverings. The location includes a fueling island and brining and calcium station. In addition to the Maintenance Facilities the K2M team provided Site Planning and Criteria Documents for the projects. As part of the Criteria Architect services being utilized by the OFCC and Ohio Department of Transportation our team has provided criteria review and construction administration services for the construction phase of the projects to the design/build contractors as an Owner Representative. These services included providing sufficient clarity on key Owner needs while allowing maximum flexibility.
